French Bike Ride

Several of our planning and support team completed a 75 mile bike ride around the French countryside.  It turned out to be quite an eventful day with a lot of miles, sunshine, laughs and a little bit of heatstroke.

The ride, organised by Wiggle, started at 4am in the morning in Dover. Following a crossing to Calais the riding began through rolling French hills in temperatures exceeding 43 degrees!

With the ferry running late, one broken seatpost and some very suspect gears on one of the bikes it was certainly a challenge.

Michael and Simon arrived back to the ferry port after a very respectable 5 hours, followed significantly later by Paul, Richard and James.  There were some very tired legs and bodies at the finish line, not least Paul, who’d put in quite the shift towing James around France, only to succumb to heatstroke at the finish.
